Congratulations to CMS Alum Benjamin Wheaton who has recently accepted a position at Houghton University as Visiting Assistant Professor of History.
Benjamin Wheaton graduated from the Centre for Medieval Studies in 2018, writing his thesis on the 6th-century poet Venantius Fortunatus and his engagement with theological issues. He received the Claudio Leonardi Fellowship for Medieval Latin studies in 2019, and did postdoctoral research at the Societa Internazionale per lo Studio Medioevo Latino (SISMEL) in Florence, Italy. His monograph on Fortunatus, Venantius Fortunatus and Gallic Christianity: Theology in the Writings of an Italian Emigre in Merovingian Gaul, was published by Brill in 2022. He is also the author of Suffering, Not Power: Atonement in the Middle Ages, published by Lexham Press in 2022.
